Racanelli Construction Completes Cedar Crest Village
Racanelli Construction Company recently completed the development of the third neighborhood complex in the Pompton Plains, New Jersey-based Cedar Crest Village residential retirement community. Racanelli served as the Construction Manager on the project awarded by Erickson Development and valued at over $100 million. Cedar Crest Village is a true lifestyle community and the Racanelli project reflects this.
The project encompassed the construction of (3) three seven-story residence buildings with 120 units each; (1) one five-story residence building with 96 units; a new two-story 50,000 square foot community building with dining facilities, commercial kitchen, shops, bank, mechanical and electrical generation systems; a 95,000- square foot, two-story parking structure, an 8,100-square foot chapel; a three-story assisted living building with 86 units; links connecting all buildings, on a campus-like setting with ponds, landscaping, parking areas, access roads and underground utilities.
Incorporated into the new Cedar Crest Village community center is a conventional hall with dance floor and complete audio-visual system. Additionally, there is a new main dining room with a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. To further facilitate entertaining and special events, a small catering hall, as well as a private dining room each with their own kitchen has been provided. Surrounding a beautiful stone fireplace is a seating area which extends from the library to the open bar area where billiards, card tables, chess tables and multiple flat panel televisions are provided. For the more creative Cedar Crest residents, there is a creative arts studio and music classroom. Those who prefer quiet time can enjoy the new reading room. There is also a café available for light dining. Residents can conveniently bank at their own on-premise bank, open day and night. An onsite hair salon and spa further contributes to Cedar Crest’s broad amenities. In providing its Construction Management services, Racanelli managed all planning preliminary and federal, state and city approvals. The company secured subcontractors and managed the entire construction administrative process from RFIs, submittals and schedules to quality controls and facilitation of subcontractor and owner meetings. Additionally, Racanelli was responsible for commissioning the buildings and coordinating turnover and punch list. Safety management and the scheduling and oversight of site construction were also part of the company’s construction management services. The Cedar Crest Village complex features conventional steel, masonry, Exterior Insulating Finish System (EIFS), metal and wood trusses, shingle and metal roofs and fine millwork finishes. The complex incorporates both passenger and freight elevators, aluminum windows and storefronts and automatic sliding doors. The lifestyle complex also includes a beauty salon and in-house bank.
